Terms of business, and terms of using this site

The short, plain version of how the work runs. The full working agreement you'd sign for a specific job says the same things in more detail — if the two ever disagree, the signed agreement wins.

Prices

Every price on this site is in euro and is fixed for the scope described. There is no hourly rate, no setup fee and no minimum term. I am not currently registered for VAT, so no VAT is added to any price on this site. If that changes, this line changes with it and you will be told before it affects a quote you already hold.

Prices are published so you can decide without a conversation. If what you need is outside the scope described, I'll quote it separately before starting, not afterwards.

How a job runs

  • A proposal first. It names the service, the scope, the price and the dates. Nothing starts until you've seen it.
  • Under €500: 50% starts the work, 50% on delivery.
  • €500 and over: three equal payments — a third starts it, a third at an agreed midpoint, a third on delivery. The midpoint is something you can see, named in your agreement before we start, so an invoice never arrives as a surprise.
  • Bank transfer as standard. Ask if you would rather pay by card and I will send a link — same price to you, the fee is mine.
  • Retainers are invoiced monthly in advance and you can stop at the end of any month. No notice period, no minimum term.
  • Payment is due within 30 days of the invoice unless we've agreed otherwise in writing.
  • Everything I make is yours to keep and reuse, with no licence and no restriction, once it's paid for.

If the work isn't right

If a piece of work genuinely isn't what we agreed, I'll rework it. If it still isn't, I'll refund the balance and you keep the deposit's worth of work. That's the whole guarantee and it's deliberately simple.

What it doesn't cover is a change of mind about the direction after it's been agreed, or work that's correct but didn't produce the commercial result you hoped for. I can control the quality of the thinking. I can't control your market.

What I don't do

Paid advertising, building websites, photography, posting as though I were you, and drawing logos from scratch. I plan, decide and write; you press publish. Where a job needs one of those things I'll tell you and, where I can, point you at somebody who does it — for no fee in either direction.

Late payment

I'd much rather chase nothing. But for the sake of having it written down: this is a business-to-business contract, and late payment in commercial transactions in Ireland is governed by the European Communities (Late Payment in Commercial Transactions) Regulations 2012 as amended. Those regulations give a supplier an automatic entitlement to interest and to compensation for recovery costs where an invoice is paid late. I rely on the statutory position rather than inventing my own rate.

You're buying as a business

These services are sold to businesses for business purposes. By booking, you're confirming you're buying for purposes relating to your trade, business or profession — which means consumer rules, including the 14-day distance-selling cooling-off period, don't apply. If you're not sure whether that describes you, say so before booking and we'll sort it out.

Confidentiality

Your figures, your plans and anything you tell me during a job stay between us. I may describe the shape of a piece of work publicly — "a bakery in the west", "a physiotherapy clinic" — but never your name, your numbers or anything identifying, unless you've said in writing that I can.

Data protection

How I handle personal information is set out in the privacy notice. Where a job means I handle your own customers' personal data — a mailing list, for instance — we sign a separate data processing agreement first, because an informal arrangement isn't good enough and isn't legal.

Using this website

  • The words, documents and design on this site are mine. You're welcome to read, print and share them; you're not welcome to republish them as your own.
  • The portfolio samples describe invented businesses. Sé Lá, Stillwater, WOBBLE and the rest do not exist. Every figure in them is illustrative and labelled as such. They exist to show what a piece of work contains, not to describe any real business.
  • Nothing on this site is advice for your specific situation, and nothing here is a contract until there's a signed agreement.
  • This site sets no cookies and collects nothing except what you type into the contact form.

Governing law

Irish law, and the Irish courts.
